Landscape by Zoe

Good morning Lovelies and welcome back for my third and final post for this month, using these wonderful stamps, trees make such a lovely statement to any card.

So this was literally what was left on my craft mat after I'd created a background for another card, like most crafters I just couldn't waste it, I liked the white left in places, I thought it looked kind of marbled? I stamped the tree using Onyx Black Versafine Inkpad and heat embossed using black ep, I then extended the landscape with a black marker. I sprinkled on some pink Frantage in places and heated, I roughed the edges and lightly inked to create a distressed edge nod mounted onto hemp textured card.

I hope you have liked my creations this month? I certainly have enjoyed creating them, thank you so much for taking the time to visit and leave a comment, have a wonderful day xx Zoe xx

In the pink by Brenda

Good morning Peeps.

I am back with some more shares from Lesley's recent shows using the some of the beautiful Tree stamps which as with all Chocolate Baroque stamps were a delight to work with.

Above I have used Dylusions to create a background over which I stamped (second generation) one of the images from Indian Textiles  as I wanted to create some subtle background interest, then stamping one of the trees from Fantasy Woodland with Versafine Black and colouring in with sparkle pens and adding white highlighter. The sentiment is again from Birthday Words.

I will be the first to admit I am not a particularly frugal crafter but I do save all the smaller pieces of Fabriano which I always seem left with after cutting square pieces from the A3 sheets as they are the perfect size for creating a triptych card. I inked all three pieces with Oxide inks and using Black Versafine stamped three trees from Fantasy Woodland and Tall Trees stamp sets and a sentiment from Birthday Words.

My starting point for this card with a Dylusions background and my usual spritz of pearl mica spray to blend the colours followed by stamping around the edges with Large Crackle Background.............such a useful stamp that we all need in our stash......... using Versamark and embossing with detail gold powder. I then stamped Poppy Meadow Words of Inspiration with Versafine black and bleached out the colour, but as I added the bleach I mopped each flower with a piece of kitchen towel so it left some of the colour to give a pinkish finish. I stamped the sentiment onto an offuct sprayed with the same Dylusions and added some ribbon to finish.

I am really still not sure about this one, it's all rather dark although did look better in the flesh. I stamped the main panel onto a piece of card coloured with Oxide inks using a stamp from Butterfly Daisy Collage and Butterfly Poppy Collage multi buy. I then used Versamark and detail clear embossinng powder to glaze the panel, giving it three coats of both. I stamped the flowers from the same multi buy onto card coloured with the same inks, cut out and covered them as well with embossing powder before layering up. I placed the panel inside a die cut frame and arranged the flowers and some ribbon.

I hope you have a lovely day.

Hello everyone. A card from me today.

For this card I used Distress Ink also for the colouring of the flowers. The crackle stamp I stamped all over the image also.

Pretty Poppies (by Julie)

Hello, today I have a couple of floral cards to show you.

My first card is a DL card that I have created with the Pretty Poppies set. I simply stamped the central poppy design with Versafine ink and coloured with pencils. I then inked up the little corner stamp with a dark green Versafine and stamped the border around the outside. No special measuring was needed and if you go slightly wrong don't worry, just treat it as a design opportunity. That is why the little Thanks sentiment is there...haha.
I finished off the card with Distress inks for the background and dabs of Crystal Stickles.

For my second card I cut a piece of glossy card to fit my card blank and brayered the background with blue and green dye ink. I lifted some of the colour by sprinkling with water and then dabbing the excess off with a kitchen towel.
I inked up flowers from Pretty Poppies and Poppy Meadow to create the floral design. I then stamped the larger flower from Pretty Poppies onto white stamping card and cut out selected areas to decoupage over the top.
I finished off the card with some stencilled butterflies using the Kaleidoscope of Butterflies mask and a sentiment from Pretty Poppies.

Many thanks for stopping by and please call back very soon for daily Design Team inspiration.

You said butterfly ? (by Dominike)

Hello
this week-end, I organize a workshop in a wine grower house in the Loire Valley.
A beautiful time in a year, with kind ladies.
You are going to work on an Artist Book, with a lot of techniques as wax, encaustic, transfer, collage on old bed sheet or handmade papers.

Bonjour
ce week-end j'organise un atelier chez un viticulteur avec d'adorables dames. Nous allons réaliser un livre d'artiste avec différentes techniques comme la cire, l'encaustique à chaud, le transfert, le collage que ce soit sur drap ou papier.

This beautiful butterfly is the first page of the book.

1-The sheet is colored with brusho.
2-I stamped the image on the sheet.
3-I stamped the image on a piece of paper.
4-I cutted around and colors are vaporized on the image.

In a few days, I'll show the entire book on my blog.

Ce magnifique papillon est en première page.
Dans quelques jours vous pourrez voir le livre en entier sur mon blog.

Have a good day. See you soon.
Kind regards.

A bientôt.

Transparent Poppies (by Anne)

Good morning. Today I am sharing one of my samples for the recent shows on Hochanda featuring the Pretty Poppies and Poppy Meadow stamps.

I coloured my scene using the fabulous alcohol markers from Chameleon. I simply love the new Color Tops that allow you to blend 2 completely different colours seamlessly – very tricky to do with standard alcohol pens.

Materials:
  • Pretty Poppies, Poppy Meadow, Nature Table, Butterfly Poppy Collage stamp sets
  • 8 X 8 inch card blank, 6.5 inch square card suitable for alcohol ink (I used Velvet Card) and scrap copy paper (to make masks)
  • Inkpads: Versafine (Onyx Black), Distress Ink (Tumbled Glass), Memento Dye Ink (London Fog)
  • WOW embossing powder (Clear Gloss)
  • Zig 2 way glue (temporary adhesive for masks)
  • Alcohol pens (yellow, green, blue, beige and pink): Chameleon Pens (YG3, YL2, BL3) and Color Tops (NU0, PK3)
  • Permanent marker (black)
  • Coloured pencils (black, green and pink/purple)
  • Water based fine tipped pen (light grey)
  • Gel pen (Hybrid Ink - black with metallic red)
  • Stickles glitter glue (Crystal)
How it was done:
  1. The card background was stamped with the honesty stamp and Distress Ink. The corners were stamped with Versafine and the edges blended lightly with Distress Ink.
  2. The foreground poppies were stamped onto copy paper and cut out to create masks. Small dots of zig glue were added to the back and left to dry (turns from blue to clear) to create a temporary stick to hold them in place.
  3. The foreground poppies were stamped with Memento (water based ink that will not bleed when colouring with alcohol ink pens) and then covered with the masks before stamping the background poppies.
  4. The stems were extended where needed by drawing with the fine tipped pen (NB. Make sure it is suitable for colouring with alcohol pens without bleeding – test if unsure).
  5. The image was then coloured with alcohol pens. I love the delicate transparent finish – perfect for delicate poppies. I used the new Chameleon pens with Color Tops. These enable really easy one step blending of one colour into the next. Leaves were coloured with YG3 and NU0 Color Top, Flowers with BL3 and PK3 Color Top, Buds with BL3 and NU0 Color Top, Butterfly with YL2 and and PK3 Color Top.
  6. A little texture and extra shading was added where needed with coloured pencils. The sentiment was stamped with Versafine and heat embossed with clear powder to emphasise. The card was edged with black marker to frame and glued to the card front with 3D foam for added dimension.
  7. The butterfly was stamped with Memento onto a spare scarp of card, coloured with alcohol pens and cut out. To enhance the butterfly details (the grey ink was a bit pale) I overstamped it with Versafine Ink.
  8. A little metallic ink was used on the butterfly and stamens. Further sparkle was added with Stickles glue.

We Will Remember Them (by Asha)

Good morning, friends! We are almost at the end of October and while a Halloween project would be the obvious choice, I decided to hop off the bandwagon and pursue a different theme. Looking ahead to November, I decided to play with the Pretty Poppies stamp sheet to create a Remembrance Day inspired page.

It's a simple page, no unnecessary embellishments, textures or distractions. Just a field of red poppies against a clear blue sky. A telling contrast... lest we forget the price of peace.

I used acrylic paints for the background and stamped the poppies directly on the page with Versafine Vintage Sepia. I coloured the stems and leaves with alcohol markers. Then I stamped the poppies and buds separately, coloured and fussy cut them before adhering them to the page.

As always, I have details of the tools and products used on my blog. Thank you for stopping by and drop in soon for more designs by the team.

Beijinhos,
Asha

poppies (by Veronica)

I am an absolute sucker for poppy stamps, so it was lovely to have these stamps back in the spotlight.
The butterfly poppy set is A4, so there are lots of images to play with. I used the large scripty image to make the background, stamped in hickory smoke distress ink and sponged witht he same ink.
I inked up the main image using distress markers, using one colour at a time and my stamping press to make sure the images matched! Doing it this way meant that the ink stayed damp, and any in the wrong place could be removed easily. This was on white card, sponged with wild honey distress ink after stamping and tearing round the image. I curled up some of the corners as well before gluing down

The background here is grey again, leafy spray from take it or leaf it. Image from poppy meadow stamped in black versafine ink and coloured with watercolour pencils. Die cut in an oval shape, which was edged with black versafine by running the diecut along the pad.
three small gems to finish

Third card uses the script and poppy head stamps from butterfly poppy to create the background, stamped using wild honey distress ink and sponged edges with the same ink.

The main image was stamped with brown ink onto white card, sponged with the same ink on the harlequin bit and very lightly across the script to try to suggest antiquity. Pured with marker pens, then cut out and glued over the original image - I didn't try to cut the antenna out!

A very quick card using an image from pretty poppiespoppies , stamped using versamark and white embossing powder, then red and green distress inks sponged across the image

Lastly a card using another stamp from pretty poppies, stamped directly onto a 7"x5" card blank using black versafine ink, and coloured with watercolour pencils. Sentiment also on the same plate.
Another very quick card.

A few more cards ... (posted by Claire)

Good morning, Claire here with some of the projects made for Lesley's shows on Hochanda.

This first card was made using stamps from Nature's Peace. I began with a PanPastel background and stamped the tree using brown ink, the foliage in the top corner with green ink and then stamped the foliage in the foreground with a dark green ink, over stamping with the berried inked in red ink. The sentiment was stamped and embossed with a vintage gold ink.

This card features Butterfly Poppy Collage, I love this large image it's so pretty.

I made the background by swooshing some white card through Picked Raspberry and Peeled Paint distress inks misted with water on my craft mat. Once the ink was dry I used a harlequin stencil and glossy black stencil paste over the top. While that was drying I stamped the image and embossed with black embossing powder. I painted the image with watercolour painted and splattered a little paint here and there. I distressed the edges and layered it on black card. Lastly I assembled the card adding some pink organza ribbon and a big bow.

My last card today  uses the seed heads collage from Butterfly Poppy Collage. I stamped the image to the side of a linen card blank and then doodles the wiggly edges with a black micron pen. I painted the image with watercolour paints and added some paint splatters here and there before adding the sentiment which is from Pretty Poppies.

Thanks so much for visiting today

Harlequin Poppies (by Judith)

Hello everyone, I have a project to share with you today that featured on last month's TV shows on Hochanda.

This project was created using the fabulous Drawing Cartridge paper, which is such a great product. I love to use smooth watercolour paper in a lot of my projects, which can be a bit pricy. Cartridge paper is a cheaper alternative, and this paper from the website is perfect for adding water, and lightweight enough for fussy cutting. It is smooth enough for stamping as well, so a good all rounder for your projects.

I started my project by blending bands of Distress Ink across the background, and then spritzed them with water for a mottled effect. Once the background had dried naturally, I added a circle mask, and stamped a harlequin image from the Harlequin Fragments stamp set around the masked area, using a deep red Distress Ink, mixed in with a little brown. I added some extra shading around the edge of the mask, before removing the mask.

On another piece of the cartridge paper, I added some colour using green, red, yellow and orange Distress Inks, and then stamped some of the flowers and a butterfly from the Butterfly Poppy Collage stamp set, using Versafine Onyx Black Ink. I heat set the images and cut them out. I stamped a sentiment from the Loving Sentiments stamp set into the circle aperture created underneath the mask, using the black ink as before.

I added large black brads to the flowers to give the illusion of the flowers being poppies, before attaching them to the card, and added some leafy die cuts. Finally, I adhered the background to a large black card blank.

Thanks for stopping by, Judith xx

Floral Pen Holder (by Gerrina)

Hello everyone, today sees the second post from our Guest Designer Gerrina, this month. She has created a pretty holder for her pens, decorated with floral images.

Gerrina writes:

It is already the second of my Guest Design Team posts at Chocolate Baroque this month. This time I have made something that can make your craft room an inspirational place and is still so useful. I have altered another glass jar that I use for markers:

Used Materials:

Stamps: Floral Notes
Ink: Memento - Sky Blue, Cantaloupe, Love Bug, Teal Zeal, Cottage Ivy, Bamboo Leaves, Lilac Posies, Tuxedo Black
Other: Glass jar, white linen cardstock, crayons

Work Process:

Cut a piece of linen cardstock that fits the jar that you want to use.
Choose some beautiful flower stamps from Chocolate Baroque, two background stamps and one or two grass stamps.
Stamp the two background stamps with a light blue and a light yellow ink. They might overlap.
Stamp the flowers without masking, and 'ground' them by stamping the grass stamps at the bottom of the cardstock.
I inked the stamps directly with the inkpads.
Colour the flowers with the same ink colours and a water brush. If you wish, you can draw some extra grass.

Creatieve groetjes,

Gerrina

Thank you Gerrina for another fabulous project.

Gerrina will be back next week with her final project of the month.

Trees by Zoe

Good morning Lovelies and welcome to my second post this month.

I started using some Brushos and spritzing with water, once dry I stamped the verse using a grey Inkpad, I then inked over using Antique Linen Distress Oxide Inkpad, stamped my image and sentiment then using a ruler and fine line marker just added some random lines, a few sequins and Voila!

I used the "wrinkle free" distressing technique using Distress Oxide inkpads, I used hot foil through a stencil using my laminator to create some texture, stamped the verse randomly using a grey Inkpad, I used versafine Onyx Black Inkpad to stamp the tree then heat embossed with black ep, I added some coloured enamel drops here and there and on the flower centres, I roughed up the edges and inked to get a more grungy effect.

I do love trees for my crafting, so versatile. Thank you for visiting, have a wonderful day xx Zoe xx

More Autumn by Brenda

Hello Peeps, I am back again with some more of my samples from Lesley's recent Autumn shows on Hochanda.

So more indulgence in inky Autumn colours and Poppies and my starting point for the top card was a background of  Mica powders spritzed with pearl mica spray to bleed the colours and add some sparkle. I then stamped the Poppy heads from the Poppy Meadow set along with some smaller ones from Natures Table and some grasses from the same set. Next I used a stencil and Distress Inks to add some sun rays, then stamped some more poppy heads across the top. The sentiment is from Natures Peace which is one one of the sets in the multi buy. I added colour to the Poppy heads using the same mica powders and highlighted with a white pen.

Scenes are something I really enjoy creating and for the card above I started with a cloudy sky using distress inks and bleaching out some clouds. I then stamped trees from the Autumn Edges and Tall Trees using Gathered Twigs DI and added leaves with DI's using just the top of one of the larger stamps in the same set. Using watered down DI I painted in some hills and stamped leaves along the top using another stamp from the same set. The fauna in the foreground is stamped with an image from Silhouette Grasses and sentiment from Birthday Words.

On this one I tried to create warmth using DI's for the background and then added some stenciling. The focal images is from Fantasy Woodland. After cleaning the larger stamp I masked off a section so I could ink and stamp just the tiny trees alongside the small tree to the right. Inking just the tip of the flower stamp in the set I added a border around the piece and finally stamped a sentiment from Birthday Words.

Another Oxide background here with some stenciling, followed by some background stamping using the scrip stamps from Butterfly Poppy Collage and then the lovely harlequin and Poppy head stamp using Versafine Black. After stamping I cleaned the stamp, masked the Poppy heads and inked just the harlequins to extend the pattern. The two Butterflies are from the same set and coloured in with the same inks used for the background.

I hope you all have a lovely day with some crafty time as well.

Fifteen Minute Cards

Hello everyone, today we are sharing our monthly selection of cards and projects from the Design Team that have been created in fifteen minutes or less. The object of this monthly post is to share lots of tips and tricks for creating quick designs that are beautiful, stylish and still have that wow factor, but have taken a fraction of the time that some of our other cards normally take us to complete. If you are a beginner stamper, and are worried about complicated designs or processes, or simply need a card in a hurry, there will be something in these monthly posts to suit you. You can use the ideas for batch card making, or for craft fair sales. There is no limit to how many cards you can make with these stamps, as long as you hand stamp each item yourself.

We hope that you will enjoy what we have to share with you this month, so grab a cuppa, and settle down to browse through this month's selection.

Our first card is a rainbow explosion of colour from Magda. She has used Brushos for her background, and then stamped the image with Versafine Onyx Black Ink.

For her second project, she has created three mini cards. She has stamped in grey ink for the sentiments and the poppy image. She used Distress Ink for the other images. She spritzed her cards with a wet brush, adding colour with watercolour pencils.

Two tags from Magda next, the first has been coloured with Distress Ink, and simply stamped with a quick bit of stencilling in the background.

The second has been coloured with Distress Inks again, more stencilling for the large word, and the image has been coloured with watercolour pencils.

Two Christmas makes from Magda now, the first uses white embossing as a resist for the lovely Reindeer image.

Finally, she has made some quick gift tags, stamping with Distress Ink, and filling in the open areas with markers. She has then stamped the inkpad itself to add interest onto the background, A bit of Stickles adds some sparkle.

I have made a very quick Autumn scene for my card. I coloured a tree stamp using water based markers, and stamped it onto a piece of smooth cartridge paper. I then added some hills with greem Distress Ink to ground the tree. I stamped several small leaves using various Autumn tones of Distress Ink, and pulled the colour into the leaves with a water brush. I added a setiment using brown Archival Ink. I added a border of yellow ink around the background.

Rachel has created three fabulous cards for us this month. The first uses white embossing onto black card, for a very striking finish. She has then simply matted and layered the background for a dramatic card.

For her second card, she has used Brushos for her background before stamping the image. She used the Brushos to add a little bit of painting afterwards.

Finally she has built a scene using repeat stamping of the trees, using a mask and some torn paper, before adding Distress Ink for the background.

A quick card from Marga next, using a piece of patterned paper. She has stamped the image and coloured it with pencils. All of us have paper in our stash, and this is a great way of creating quick cards.

We have a great selection of cards from Anne this month. Her first card was created using Versamark, adding a sicky embossing powder, and gilding flakes.

Anne's next two cards both use two lovely tree images, and would make beautiful cards for either men or women. The first card was stamped using a sepia Versafine Ink, and the background was then edged with Distress ink and a fine border of alcohol marker, before matting onto a scalloped card. A little bit of copper glitter glue was added to the leaves for added sparkle.

For her next card, Anne stamped the image with the Sepia Ink again, and she added colour using a water brush, pulling the colour out from the darker areas of the image, indicated by the stamp detail, giving tonal variation. She added Glossy Accents to the apples for added shine. The edge of the card was coloured with Distress Ink, and roughed up with scissors. Faux stitching was added, plus some little PVA pearls.

Carole has created two cards using the same design, but in two different colourways. This is a great idea for quick cards, especially if you want to make batch cards. A lot of time is spent in the design process, and once you have found a design that you like, often you can make the card themselves quite quickly. She has stamped the large corner design and trimmed it down to a 12cm x 12cm square. She sliced across the design and mounted it onto a 14cm x 14cm piece of card, leaving a 1cm gap for the words.

Finally, we have a bumper crop of cards from Brenda. There is something for everyone in her collection this month!

Her first card uses a lovely Spring time image stamped with black ink onto a background created using an acrylic block that has gridlines. The gridlines create an interesting pattern on the background when adding Distress Inks that have been spritzed with water.

The next card is simply stamped and coloured with pencils.

For her next card, she has masked off a central panel, then using a stencil and Distress Inks, she has created a background pattern She removed the mask, and stamped a sentiment using the same colours as she used for the background.

She stamped an image with Distress Ink, and used a waterbrush to drag out some of the colour to create this pretty sepia toned card.

Using a stencil, she added Pan Pastels and then some stamping with Versafine Ink. She added more stamping and Pan Pastels in the bottom corner of her card.

Stamping, spritzing with water and adding Brushos created the scene in this seasonal themed card. Brenda has used a piece of recycled packaging for the background.

For her next card, she coloured the stamp with water based markers and spritzed the stamp with water before stamping the image.

A strip of colour was created by masking off the edges of the card, and adding Pan Pastels. Brenda then repeat stamped the butterflies over the panel and added a sentiment.

She used acrylic paint to create the following background, and simply used gold embossing pwder and Versamark Ink to add the image and sentiment.

The next three cards were all completed in exactly the same way, just varying colours and stamps. Brenda used water based markers, coluring the stamps, and spritzed the stamps with water before stamping. She added a sentiment afterwards.

Another inked background using the gridline acrylic block, adding Distress Inks, and sprizing with water, before stamping onto the background. Brenda then added the poppy image and sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black Ink.

That ends our selection of cards and projects for October. We hope that you have found something to inspire you and that you will try some of these ideas out for yourselves. We will be back next month with another selection. Do keep checking out the Design Team blog for a daily dose of inspiration from our regular Design Team posts. Thanks for stopping by,
